The rope hypothesis manages to explain what both Classical and Quantum Mechanics fail to give a
physical interpretation to: the wave and particle properties and behaviors of light. As a bonus, the rope
gives us simplicity and perfect symmetry, features that researchers have sought in vain for the last 400
years. The ever increasing number of particles of QM’s Standard Model is certainly not getting any simpler.

Let’s recap and summarize these qualitative, physical phenomena to have a clear understanding of how
poorly Classical and Quantum particles and waves fare. Classical waves and Quantum particles cannot
answer ANY fundamental structural or dynamic property of light whereas the rope answers all of them:

    Static/structural properties of light

    1.  why the electric and magnetic fields run anti-parallel to each other and oscillate
        around an imaginary axis

    2.  why the electric and magnetic fields run perpendicular to each other

    3.  why EM waves are sinusoidal (The mechanics must first determine whether their
particles comprise standing or traveling waves.)

    4.  why the velocity of light is a constant (meaning that frequency is inversely
        proportional to wavelength consistent with the expression c = ƒ * λ)

    5.  why a beam of light ‘accelerates’ when going from glass to air

    6.  how waves or a series of particles generate amplitude and for what reason

    7.  what spin is and what its physical significance is

    8.  why light travels rectilinearly as required by the Principle of Ray Reversibility

    Dynamic/behavioral properties of light

    1.  why light arrives before it leaves (The Principle of Ray Reversibility)

    2.  the grand unified theory (GUT) or how to produce push and pull in a single stroke.

    3.  why light is so fast

    4.  the EPR experiment

I synthesize some of these attributes in Fig. 1.

Conclusions about
light

Perhaps the most significant aspect to keep in mind about the rope is that we have integrated the two
forces of the universe, push and pull, into a single mechanism. Therefore, in principle, this configuration
appears to have a good chance of unifying light and gravity. Meanwhile this model seems to be keeping
up pretty well with the fundamental properties of light. By making the assumption that light is a torque
wave generated by a two-strand rope, we have tentatively been able to account for a series of well-
established structural and dynamic features. Let’s now investigate how the hydrogen atom fits into this
    scheme of things.

The history of light has been one misinterpretation after another. These misinterpretations of experimental
results have to do solely with the mathematicians’ persistent reluctance to abandon their beloved particle
hypothesis. Quantum is entirely a billiard ball theory and is thus doomed. We cannot justify rectilinear
trajectories, speed, and other properties of light with particles. The most important attribute the mechanics
cannot explain is gravity. Quantum has yet to discover the force of pull. If we eliminate the particle, all the
Mathematics invented in the last century is worthless. Nevertheless, the mathematicians would do well to
erase the board and start over again. They cannot continue giving ever more fantastic and irrational
explanations to the simplest physical phenomena. At some point the mathematicians will have to get rid of
    the ‘point’!

Fig. 1   How longitudinal (spring), transverse (ribbon), and torque (rope) waves measure up.
a. Straightness. When taut, a rope is
straight despite its wavy nature.
Neither longitudinal nor transversal
generates straightness. In Physics,
only the force of pull produces
‘straightness’.

b. Speed and Direction. The twist of a
taut rope sends the signal almost
instantaneously in both directions (i.
e., ray reversibility). Only the rope
pushes and pulls simultaneously.

c. EPR. From one end the rope twirls
CW. From the other, it twirls CCW.

light really looks
like!

d. Amplitude. The rope inherently has amplitude. This is its natural state.

e. Orthogonality. Only the rope configuration can justify why the electric ‘field’ runs at 90° to the
magnetic ‘field’.
